    George Edwin Brethauer, 93, of Hot Springs Village passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. George was born July 9, 1920 in Belleville, Illinois to Bertha (Frick) and George Brethauer. He graduated with a BA Degree from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. He was the founder and first president of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, and he was President of Skulls of Seven at Westminister. George had the honor of sitting next to President Truman and Sir Winston Churchill during the Iron Curtain speech. He served in the Army Aircorp and is a Veteran of WWII in Pacific Theatre.

    George was self employed and CEO of Brethauer Snacks in Houston, Texas. He received the silver Beaver Award in scouting in 1960. Activities include: HSV Shrine Club, Scimitar Shrine Temple of Little Rock, Village Card Club, Men’s Duplicate Bridge, former member of MGA, past member of Garland County Senior Golf, active member at the Natatorium since 1986, member of Whittington Lodge #365 (Mason), Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Houston, Texas, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10483, American Legion, Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Waynesville, Missouri, Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, former member of Merry Mixer Dance Club, and a member of Village United Methodist Church.

    George is preceded in death by his first wife Jacqueline. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 15 years, Sally, daughter Ann Brethauer, son Mark H. Brethauer both of Houston, TX; Tracy Ritter of Norcross, GA; Terri Davis of Castlerock, CO; and 6 grandchildren.

    A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 26th at Village United Methodist Church. Interment will be at CedarVale Cemetery at a later date.

    Memorials may be made in George’s honor to Village Springs activity’s fund at 1208 Hwy 7 N. Hot Springs, AR 71909.
